Preference course change

A preference course change allows you to:

  • Change a course to a different time
  • Swap one course for another course
  • Register for an additional course (if you do not have a full course load)
  • Register for a course that you have already passed

The preference course change period typically occurs in the first week of the semester. To find out the next preference course change period, see Important dates.

Submitting a request

  1. Ensure you are making your request during the Preference Course Change period. You will only have access to the necessary form during this time. To find out the next course change period and deadline, see Important dates.
  2. Check for open sections on the Continuing Education live course schedule
  3. Fill in and submit the Preference Course Change form. The link to the online form can be found on your Omnivox (Omnivox > Information and Messages module).
  4. If you are in a diploma (DCS) program, consult your Progression Chart to make sure the course number you want is valid for your program.
  5. In the comments section, let us know if you are trying to become a full-time student or the context of your request (if necessary).

You cannot use this process to withdraw from a course without replacing it. To withdraw from a course, see this page

After submitting your request

  • You will receive an e-mail confirming either a refusal or acceptance of your request.
  • If accepted, check your schedule on Omnivox after 6pm to see the change(s) as well as any applicable fees to be paid under Fee Payment.
  • Pay any additional fees within 24 hours. If your fees are not paid, your course(s) will be deleted.

Please note that regular refund rules apply.

If your request is not approved

This could be because:

  • The course you requested is not part of your progression program grid
  • You have not completed the necessary prerequisites
  • The course you selected is closed
  • The open section you requested may have been requested by multiple students

Students who missed their online registration appointment and have not registered for any courses up to this point will receive a late registration fee.
