Vanier Celebrates the 9th Edition of Women of Science Week October 18-22, 2021

Once again this year Vanier College is celebrating Women of Science. All events will take place virtually through Zoom from October 18th to October 22nd. All are welcome. Jessica Ford is a PhD candidate in the Redpath Museum of McGill University studying how tadpoles change their environment, and the effects of species loss.

Maclean Rouble is a doctoral student in the Department of Physics at McGill University. Her work focuses on instrumentation for millimetre-wavelength cosmology telescopes, in particular the South Pole Telescope and similar experiments.

Katanya Kuntz (PhD) is a Research Associate at the Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo, Canada. She is the QEYSSat Science Team Coordinator for Canada’s first quantum satellite mission: Quantum EncrYption and Science Satellite (QEYSSat).

Hilary Johnson is a Master of Science student at the University of Montreal (UdeM) in the molecular biology program. She is currently studying the genetics of leukemia and performs her experiments at the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC). Swati is a PhD student at UdeM in Dr. Smith’s laboratory at Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC).

Victoria studied Biotechnology and Molecular Genetics in Argentina, where she did a thesis in Applied Microbiology. She is currently a PhD student in Biochemistry at UQAM.

Evelyne is a current Health Science student at Vanier, and was awarded an FRQNT research grant over the summer of 2021 to complete an internship with Insight Canada. This internship, identified as a “Mixed Reality Internship”, was to research the usability of mixed reality devices (specifically the HoloLens 2 from Microsoft) to enable productivity and accessibility scenarios.
