Sylvie Tardif Named Dean of Academic Systems-Registrar at Vanier College

Mr. John McMahon, Director General of Vanier College is pleased to announce that Sylvie Tardif has been named Dean of Academic Systems-Registrar.

“Sylvie has more than 20 years of experience in the CEGEP milieu so she already has a deep understanding of the inner workings of our College as well as the different challenges we are facing. She is extremely passionate about our students and will undoubtedly bring a tremendous amount of experience to this highly strategic position,” said Annie-Claude Banville, Academic Dean at Vanier College.

Sylvie has been working at Vanier for more than 17 years and during her tenure she has been extremely active on different Committees, including, Academic Council, the Vanier College Teachers Association and the Science Curriculum Committee.

Sylvie holds a Ph. D. in Organic Sulfur Chemistry from McGill University. Throughout her career, she worked at Marianopolis and Dawson College where she taught General, Organic and Bio-Organic Chemistry. She also worked at McGill and Concordia University, teaching Organic Chemistry and their laboratory techniques, and techniques of spectroscopy. Finally, she was employed as a Researcher at Eastman Kodak and as a Research Assistant at Merck Frosst Canada.

“It is truly an honour to have an opportunity to work as Dean of Academic Systems-Registrar since I am extremely passionate about Vanier and the entire community. As a proactive person with a strategic mind, I always try to explore alternative solutions as part of an effort to solve problems and bring people together. I have no doubt this position will offer many new challenges and will allow me to work with individuals from different areas of the College, which is wonderful as I enjoy helping and guiding others to be the best they can be. My approaches are set on the principles of collaboration, respect and transparency – a winning combination for winning teams! I really look forward to meeting my teams this coming Monday,” said Sylvie Tardif.
