Mr. Normand W. Bernier, Director General of Vanier College, is pleased to announce that Alena Perout has been named the College’s new Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Commerce, Arts and Letters and Music. She will begin her mandate on January 12th 2015.
“Alena Perout has more than 20 years of experience at Vanier and has already played an integral role in terms of the development of the college so she was an ideal candidate to become the new Faculty Dean,” said Mr. Bernier. “In addition to being a teacher here at Vanier as well as a Department Coordinator and former President and Vice President of the Vanier College Teachers’ Association, Alena has a profound understanding of the inner workings of the Cégep system as a whole so she will undoubtedly prove to be a major asset.”
She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Public Administration (Geography) from Concordia University as well as a Diploma in Business Administration from Concordia and a Bachelor of Science from Concordia, Double Major, (Geology/Geography).
“I have been working at Vanier in different capacities since 1992 and remain deeply committed to the college. I am extremely excited about beginning this new chapter in my Vanier career and look forward to the numerous challenges that lie ahead,” she said.
Alena Perout will be replacing Odette Côté, who left Vanier College last October after accepting the position of Academic Dean at Cégep de Thetford.
