Honouring Jim West
Every year, the Big Band Benefit Concert honours a person who has contributed significantly to the music community. This year’s event is dedicated to Jim West, President of Justin Time Records. “It’s quite fitting that we honour Jim West,” says Nadia Turbide, Coordinator of the Music Department.

“Not only is Jim an important figure in Canadian music, but as well, since the early years of this benefit concert, he has supported our event by donating CDs as door prizes and gifts. Furthermore, he has also given workshops in the Vanier Audio Recording Technology AEC Program, and since 2008, supports a $100 Justin Time Scholarship that is awarded every year to the most promising jazz student in the Music Department.”

Testimonials will be given by Dr. Trevor W. Payne, Oliver Jones, and Ranee Lee who were his first three recording artists
