Vera Fares appointed Learning Commons Coordinator at Vanier College

Vanier College is pleased to announce that Vera Fares has been appointed Learning Commons Coordinator as of October 6, 2026. Reporting to the Dean of Academic Development and Research, the Learning Commons Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organization, coordination, supervision and evaluation of all activities of the sector under their responsibility, which includes three sub-units: the Library, the Tutoring and Academic Success Centre (TASC) and the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) center.

More specifically the Learning Commons Coordinator coordinates the work of Learning Commons professionals to support student success; oversees the continuous improvement of peer tutoring, peer mentoring, the Writing Centre, review sessions, in-class interventions, and preparation for the English and French Exit Exams; and ensures the continual offering of enrichment, innovation & creativity activities, programs, and events for students.

Vera has more than 12 years of leadership, managerial and teaching experience in education. For the past two years she has managed the office operations of the Academic Dean at Vanier College. She also worked as a learning specialist in the Tutoring and Academic Success Centre (TASC), and was a pedagogical counsellor in the Continuing Education Department. Prior to coming to Vanier, Vera occupied the position of Assistant Academic Director of the Institut Supérieur d’informatique, was the Program manager and facilitator at LOVE Quebec-Leave out Violence, and taught in the Special Care Counselling program at Lasalle College. 

Vera holds a Masters of Education from McGill University as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology).
