Vanier’s Tyler Allen awarded a Lieutenant Governor of Quebec Youth Medal

April 22, 2026

Vanier College is pleased to announce that third year student Tyler Allen is a recipient of a Lieutenant Governor of Quebec Youth Medal this year. The Honorable Nagaset Manon Jeannotte presented the medal at a ceremony held on April 18, 2026 in Laval.

“It is a true privilege to receive the Lieutenant Governor Youth Award for community engagement,” says Tyler. “I have always strived to take initiative wherever I can. We often think of community service as grand gestures, but I have found that the most meaningful impact often comes from the quiet work like coordinating projects or supporting others. To have these 'small' actions recognized on such a significant stage is humbling and I am beyond grateful.”

Tyler, who is in the Vanier Multimedia and Integration program, balances academic excellence with sustained volunteer engagement at Vanier College. Through multimedia projects, collaborative initiatives, and mentoring, he demonstrates leadership, empathy, and reliability. His creativity and dedication inspire peers and enrich both the college and wider community. By applying his skills with generosity and care, he shows how committed action can create lasting, positive impact.

Tyler is often the first to volunteer for projects and has contributed his skills to both community-based and educational initiatives. Within his study program, he received the opportunity to design and develop the department website, which gave him client experience and the chance to work closely with his teachers. He was also selected to support the Campus Biodiversity Network during the City Nature Challenge, contributing to the design and development of a public-facing educational platform and he collaborated with Indigenous artist Daphne Boyer from British Columbia, on multimedia projects, working within a cross-cultural creative partnership.

Throughout these experiences, Tyler leads by example, consistently welcoming responsibility and setting a strong standard for his peers. He embraces challenges and balances demanding volunteer commitments while maintaining an excellent academic performance.

Through his sustained volunteer involvement, positive influence on others, and clear ability to achieve the objectives of his program, Tyler Allen embodies the spirit and values of the Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal and is a truly deserving recipient.

Congratulations to Tyler Allen.
