Vanier College’s Director General John McMahon is proud to announce that two new electric car charging stations have been installed on campus. One will be made available free of charge to Vanier College employees while the other charging station will be available for use by members of the public. The stations are now ready to use.
“Vanier College’s decision to install these two new charging stations is in line with our previous actions designed to ensure we remain one of the greenest CEGEPS in the network,” said John McMahon.
The charging stations have locking holsters that are equipped with screens that provide instructions explaining how to use the stations. The two stations are located in the P2 parking lot adjacent to the main entrance of the College located at 821 Ste Croix Ave.
Payments will be able to be made by downloading the Chargepoint Smartphone App at: https://www.chargepoint.com/en-ca/drivers/mobile/
"Congratulations to Vanier College for installing these two electric charging stations on its campus. This is a great initiative that will offer Saint-Laurent residents additional services to the 28 other stations already installed by the Borough in front of all municipal buildings and to the 32 other stations located throughout our territory. As Saint-Laurent welcomes Communauto FLEX, Communauto's self-service car-sharing service, this helps to encourage active and ecological transportation, in line with our Plan local de déplacements adopted in 2017 and with our status as a sustainable municipal territory," stated Alan DeSousa, Mayor of Saint-Laurent.
The stations are equipped with a waitlist system that allows drivers to use a virtual queuing system whereby they be notified when a charging station becomes available and will remain reserved for the next person in line for a set period of time.
In recent years, Vanier College has introduced numerous other green initiatives designed to help build a socially and environmentally sustainable future and provide members of its community with tools to build a more sustainable lifestyle.
