Vanier College to Host Federal Election debate on October 1, 2019

Vanier College is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a federal election debate on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 between 1 pm and 2:30 p.m. The debate will be held in the Vanier College Auditorium (A-103), located at 821 St. Croix Avenue in the borough of St. Laurent.

Members of the Vanier College community will have a forum where they will be able to hear where the parties stand on all the different issues that are on the minds of voters. The debate was organized by the office of Communications and Corporate Affairs, the Vanier College Students Association and teachers in the Department of Political Science. Representatives from all parties running the election were invited.

The debate participants are:

Conservative Party of Canada: Richard Serour, candidate for the riding of Saint-Laurent-Cartierville.

Green Party of Canada: Ms, Georgia Kokotsis, candidate for the riding of Saint-Laurent-Cartierville;

Liberal Party of Canada: Ms. Emmanuella Lambropoulos, Member of Parliament and candidate in the riding of Saint Laurent-Cartierville;

New Democratic Party: Ms Miranda Gallo, candidate for the riding of Saint-Laurent-Cartierville;

People’s Party of Canada: Christopher Mirkus, candidate for the riding of Saint-Laurent-Cartierville

“It is a great honour for Vanier to host this debate. It will allow for a discussion in a democratic and transparent fashion. It will also hopefully help members of the college community to learn more about the party platforms as well as the challenges we are facing in the coming years,” said Mr. John McMahon, Director General of Vanier College.
