Vanier 2025 Broccolini Student Life Award Winners in Architectural Technology

May 5, 2025

Vanier College is proud to announce that Shakina Macfarlane Montero and Julie Jabbour, second-year students in the Architectural Technology program, have been selected as this year’s inaugural recipients of the Broccolini Student Life Award.

This award recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding leadership, commitment, and involvement - not only within the campus community but beyond it. Shakina and Julie stood out for their dedication to enhancing the quality of student life, their passion for collaboration, and their efforts to create a more vibrant, supportive, and inclusive environment for their peers and community.

In addition to receiving a cheque of $ 1,500 each, both students got a guided tour of the Broccolini head office in Kirkland, where they also got to sit down and chat with Anthony Broccolini, CEO and alumnus of Vanier’s Architectural Technology program.

“At Broccolini, we believe in building more than just structures. We’re committed to building strong, resilient communities. This award reflects that vision, and we are thrilled to celebrate these young students who embody these values,” states Giordano McLeod, advisor, talent and people at Broccolini.

“We extend our sincere thanks to Broccolini for their continued and generous support of our program. We are especially proud that many of their talented staff are alumni of our program. We are also grateful for the construction site visits that Broccolini regularly offers to our students, which provide valuable real-world context to complement in-class learning. Thank you for helping us train the next generation of industry professionals,” states Michael Lancione, coordinator of the Architectural Technology program.

Congratulations to Shakina Macfarlane Montero and Julie Jabbour!
