The Board of Governors officially adopted the institution’s 2026–2031 Strategic Plan on September 29, 2026. This decision follows a unanimous recommendation from Academic Council and marks the culmination of extensive community-wide consultation and collaboration across the College over the 2025-2026 academic year.
Charting Vanier’s direction over the next five years, the new Strategic Plan serves as an overarching roadmap. It will guide all departments and services as they develop their annual work plans and align institutional goals to achieve a shared vision : Over the next five years, Vanier College aims to build its capacity to adapt to rapid societal change, educating future-ready critical thinkers equipped to navigate an evolving global landscape.
At the center of the 2026–2031 Strategic Plan is a strong, student-centred positioning that prioritizes both academic success and holistic student well-being. The Plan establishes clear transversal orientations intended to be woven throughout every aspect of campus life and college activities. They are : decolonization and reconciliation, sustainability and biodiversity, and equity, diversity and inclusion. The Plan then outlines four main priorities for the upcoming five-year cycle, each anchored by three specific action objectives.
Additionally, the planning process led to the identification of three core values:
These values are at the heart of what makes Vanier unique and emerged as evident over the course of a highly engaging consultation process with employees, students and community partners.
"While adopting this plan marks a defining moment for the College, I was most inspired by our community’s unity in creating a shared set of goals. Now, the most crucial work begins as we put the plan into action. With Vanier's exceptional team, I have no doubt Vanier is positioned for long-term success." said Hugues Charbonneau, Chair of the Vanier College Board of Governors.
