On October 28rd, 2026, Vanier College’s annual Sheldon Sazant Memorial Fundraiser, named after the manager of Steve’s Music Store whose death was deeply felt throughout our community, raised $18,000 this year, an increase over last year. The fund provides scholarships, subsidies and instruments to both Vanier College and local elementary and high school students who attend the Vanier College Music School.
It has been four years since Vanier College opened its Music School and with this year’s funds, more than $83,000 in funding has been collected! “Our goal is to continue to support music education by keeping it accessible and inclusive because we know music can transform, uplift, and inspire our community,” said Alena Perout, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Science.
It’s was an evening of music, all-you-can-eat BBQ from Lattuca BBQ, drinks, door prizes and fun, with performing artists that included Vanier’s Volume 11, Tomas Peck and the Constellations and the Electric Fabrics. By the end of the show, people were clapping and dancing away.
All proceeds went to the Vanier College Music School.
