Montreal, May 7, 2024. Vanier College is pleased to announce the appointment of Mireille Béland as Interim Director of Student Services. Mireille will be stepping in to replace Christine Cichon. In her role as Interim Director, Mireille will report to the Director General and will oversee the Student Services Department. Her responsibilities include ensuring that the department aligns with the College's mission, offering high-quality services to address the personal, social, developmental, and educational needs of students, and implementing programs designed to help students achieve academic success.
Mireille has been a member of the Vanier community since 2007, bringing over 30 years of experience in education and athletics, including 17 years with Vanier's Student Services as both Student Life Coordinator and Student Life Advisor. Having twice previously served as Acting Director of Student Services, she is well-prepared for this new leadership role.
Before joining Vanier, Mireille worked as a coach and manager at the Quebec Basketball Federation in Lévis and served as a daycare director in Brossard. She has also taught physiology in Concordia University's Exercise Science program and worked as a teaching assistant for physiology courses in McGill University's Physical Education program. With 22 years of coaching experience, she has led various women’s basketball teams, including Vanier's teams from 1992 to 2002.
Mireille Béland holds a Bachelor of Education and a Master's in Exercise Physiology, both from McGill University.
