Minister of Higher Education Pascale Déry visits Vanier

On August 21, 2023, Vanier College was pleased to welcome Quebec Minister of Higher Education, Pascale Déry, accompanied by Chantal Brochu, regional advisor for higher education, for a campus visit and a meeting with Director General John McMahon, Academic Dean Sandrina Joseph and Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs Isabelle Moncion.

It was an opportunity to discuss several pertinent items and concerns including Vanier’s space deficit; Bill 96, and in particular the expected impacts of implementing phase 2, especially the addition of three courses in French; as well as the admissions cap imposed on our continuing education full time AEC programs.

Following the meeting, Minister Déry briefly visited the Learning Commons, the Vanier gardens and food forest, Animal Health Technology, Music, the Sports Complex and some areas of Building Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology.

“We were pleased to meet directly with the Minister and discuss many of the challenges currently facing Vanier. We look forward to her support as the College works to implement Bill 96 and address some of its critical its space needs in the coming years,” said Director General, John McMahon.
