The Architectural Technology Department at Vanier College is pleased to announce that the new Tony Mazzilli Memorial Scholarships were awarded for the first time this year. Four prizes of 400 $ each were awarded to third-year students Sergen Keysan, Félix-Olivier Gagnon, Gloria Ruiz-Vandergrift and Yasmine Calderon. The event took place at Magil Construction’s head office in Montreal. The award is given to graduating students that show a strong interest in the estimation and project management courses.
Tony Mazzilli was a project manager at Magil Construction who took a strong interest in educating the next generation of construction professionals. Architectural Technology teachers were always welcome to bring their students to his construction sites for educational visits. Tony died suddenly in 2021 at the age of 57. Following his passing, the Mazzilli family and Magil Construction created a scholarship in his memory.
At the presentation, daughters Dalia and Selina Mazzilli gave a moving speech, then handed out the awards with John Marcovecchio, president of Magil Construction. Teachers Michael Lancione and Joe Bellantoni were on hand to celebrate.
“We are extremely grateful to the Mazzilli family, Magil Construction, and John Marcovecchio for this prize,” said Michael Lancione, Coordinator of the Architectural Technology Program. “It is important to encourage students by recognizing their engagement and their academic success.”
Congratulations to scholarship winners Sergen Keysan, Félix-Olivier Gagnon, Gloria Ruiz-Vandergrift and Yasmine Calderon.
