Congratulations are in order for former Vanier College Athletics directors, Linda MacPherson and Alex Sidorenko, on being inducted into the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Hall of Fame. Their awards in the "Builder" category attest to their dedicated work with the CCAA, the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and Vanier over many years. Their induction into the Hall of Fame took place as part of the CCAA Annual General Meeting at Collège Montmorency on June 16, 2026.

Linda Macpherson's contributions to collegiate athletics are extensive and had an exceptional impact on the Vanier College community, the RSEQ and the CCAA. Macpherson worked in Vanier's Athletics Department for 34 years, serving as Athletics Coordinator for 12 years and Manager of Sports Complex and Athletics for 7 years. At a national level, she served as CCAA Women’s Basketball National Convenor for a first term during the 1985-86 season before returning as National Convenor for 8 seasons between the years 1998-2008. Working in college sport since 1980, Macpherson spent her career in times of great advancement for the CCAA, evolving with the programs and contributing to change. Her leadership and dedication to college sport in Quebec and Canada were among key reasons she was selected as an inductee for the CCAA Hall of Fame in the Builder/Contributor category.

Alex Sidorenko was a highly respected coach, mentor, and leader within the Quebec and Canadian basketball community whose contributions left a lasting legacy. Throughout his career at Vanier, Sidorenko was recognized for his commitment to excellence, leadership, and the development of basketball at both the provincial and national levels. On the national stage, he served as the CCAA Men’s Basketball Convenor from 1979 to 1992, helping guide the growth and advancement of the sport across Canada. He later continued his service to the association as Vice-President of Sports Development and Leadership from 1992 to 1994, contributing to initiatives that strengthened collegiate athletics and fostered leadership within the CCAA. Having passed away in 2023, his wife, Catherine, accepted the award on his behalf.
