It was with deep regret that the College announced the death of retired teacher Miriam Shuchat. Miriam was a long-time member of Vanier College, teaching in both the old Snowdon Campus as well as the main campus after the move in 1986.

After retiring from Vanier College, she continued an active life in her duties as wife to the renowned Rabbi Wilfred Shuchat. She passed away at home surrounded by her family on May 3, 2012. At home on Thursday May 3, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of Rabbi Wilfred Shuchat for 58 years. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Margola, Rabbi Bernard Raphael (Rafi) of Israel, Bryna Shuchat and Josh Landes of Riverdale, N.Y., the late Elizabeth Shuchat Schwartz and mother-in-law of Rabbi Jay Yaacov Schwartz. Cherished Savta of Arielle, Eli and Daniel Landes; and Ayala Schwartz. Sister of the late Marvin and the late Bernard Sochet. Dear sister-in-law of Mary Sochet, Rita and Colonel Bernard J. Finestone, Charles and Muriel Shuchat, the late Seymour and the late Joan Shuchat. Sadly mourned by her many nieces and nephews.
