Requirements
To earn their major certificate, students must complete the following components, worth 30 points total. Students can do more than the minimum in any of the categories to meet the 30-point requirement.
1. Course work (18 points)
The course work component is comprised of the following:
- 2 core courses focused on indigenous topics and knowledge (5 points each)
- 2 or 3 related courses (whether general education, pre-university or career program courses) featuring an indigenous component (3 points each). These courses must:
- Contain a significant module (2 or more classes) or regular material throughout the semester on an Indigenous topic that centers Indigenous perspectives;
- Offer the possibility to do a term project or a combination of smaller assignments worth at least 15% of their final mark on an Indigenous topic that centres Indigenous experiences and ways of knowing.
- A project on an indigenous topic in a related course, worth at least 15% of the final grade (2 points)
Note: If you have taken a course that is not on the list but which you believe could be eligible, contact the coordinator and provide the course title, code, the name of your teacher, and the reason why you believe it is eligible.
2. Co-curricular activities (6-10 points)
A selection of activities that offer students an opportunity to engage in community events and hear from Indigenous voices directly (1-3 points each), including:

- Experiential workshops
- Organized trips and other activities on and off campus
- Online talks
- Approved volunteer work on or off campus
3. End-of-program conference (2 points)
