Vanier College is pleased to announce that Health Science student, Monica Lubczynski, is the 2019 Vanier College Valedictorian. Monica will address her fellow classmates as part of the 2019 Vanier College graduation ceremony that will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Place Des Arts.
While studying at Vanier Monica was active in numerous activities designed to support the community as well as her fellow students. These included fundraising for the Vanier Global Citizenship trip to Greece, being an organizing member of the Intercollegiate Cancer Fundraiser that raised over $14,000 and tutoring English at the TASC Centre. Monica was also a member of the Vanier Key Society, a STAR recipient and a member of both the Intramural volleyball league and the Vanier First-Aid Team.
In addition to being extremely active at Vanier, Monica, who speaks four languages, is also very involved in Montreal’s Polish community. For example, she has been a dedicated member of Montreal’s Polish Scouts for over a decade organizing numerous monthly activities and has worked as a summer camp Director. In 2018, she won the Ms. Polonia award, which recognized her outstanding involvement in the community.
Monica’s positive character and personality was palpable during her interview with the Valedictorian selection committee. As she told committee members, “Life is too short to watch time slip away and not reach out to lend a helping hand to those in need”. In keeping with this philosophy, Monica also volunteers at the Shriners Hospital for Children. “This experience has allowed me to meet a lot of brave little warriors and has definitely fueled my dream to become a physiotherapist and focus on patient rehabilitation,” Monica said.
Congratulations to Monica best of luck in all her future studies and endeavors.
