Black History Month 2026: Reading by John-Wesley Delva

As part of the Vanier College Library Book Reading Series and in celebration of Black History Month, author John-Wesley Delva will read from his work.

John Wesley Delva is a Haitian journalist and poet born in Petit-Goâve. He works for several Haitian media outlets, including Télémax (Channel 5), Radio Télévision Caraïbes (Channel 22) and Tropic FM, and collaborates with Radio Centre-Ville in Montreal. Author of collections such as Journal d'un voyageur exilé (Diary of an Exiled Traveler), Fissures murales (Wall Cracks) and Mots et silences éphémères (Words and Fleeting Silences), he explores the themes of exile and identity. He has received several literary awards, including the Prix de la Présidence de la Sorbonne and the Prix Antidote in Montreal, and was a finalist in Radio-Canada's poetry competition. He will be reading and talking about his poems.
