Vanier College is proud to announce that Science student, Laurence Beauregard, is the recipient of a $2,500 bursary for academic excellence from the Sport-études Foundation in partnership with Desjardins. Laurence was one of 26 outstanding student athletes who received bursaries of $1,000 to $2,500 in recognition of their academic excellence and their athletic achievements, at a reception that took place on April 27th at the Molson Coors Brewery.

Laurence Beauregard received her bursary from Denis Bernier (on the left in the photo), Director General of the Caisse Desjardins Cité-du-Nord de Montréal and from Michel Cantin (on the right in photo), Vice-president of the Montreal West region.

Last year, Laurence who is an Olympic wrestler in the under 55 kg category, won Silver Medals at both the Senior and Junior Canadian Championships. She is also starting to make a name for herself at the international level where she placed 8th in an invitational competition held in Italy. Her next objectives are to win the Canadian Championship and the Canadian University Championship and pursue her studies in athletic therapy after completing her DCS in Science at Vanier.

L’Alliance et la Fondation Sport-Études are pleased to support athletes pursuing post secondary studies and to applaud teachers, parents and coaches for their role in helping student-athletes succeed. This year, the Fondation Sport-Études distributed $170,000 in bursaries to 114 outstanding Sport-études student-athletes.

Congratulations to Laurence Beauregard!
