Vanier Students part of Gold Medal Winning Team

March 25, 2024

Congratulations to Vanier students, Alexandra Bourdages, Emilie Beliveau, Constance Chen, Gabriella Musi, and Jennifer Passarelli, all members of the Junior Suprêmes Synchronized Skating team that won the first Gold Medal for Canada at the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

On March 15th  and 16th, they clinched all three Gold Medals (Short program, Long program, and Overall) among competition from 24 teams comprising 543 skaters representing 20 ISU member nations.

Canada’s Les Suprêmes Junior made a little bit of history by claiming the first ISU World Junior Synchronized title in Neuchâtel, following in the footsteps of the senior-level Les Suprêmes, the reigning ISU World Synchronized Champions. They worked hard for their victories and over the past 5 months, the junior team has won several Gold and Bronze medals in a half dozen competitions.

In Neuchâtel, Les Suprêmes Junior took the lead in the Short Program with a confident performance. They then built on their lead with a flawless Free Skating choreography that told the story of Albert Einstein. They had Einstein’s formulas printed on their costumes to reflect their theme.

In all, they earned a season’s best of 131.13 points for the Free Skating and totaled 205.14 points to win the title.

Our expectation coming in (to this competition) was to attack our programs – that was our main goal at this competition, and this is just a dream come true for all of us. We can’t believe it.

- Vanier’s Gabriella Musi, co-captain for the Suprêmes Junior team.

Co-captain Victoria Gimenez also added : "We’re feeling very accomplished. We are really proud of our season, and we are proud of our two performances. It’s exactly what we wanted to do this weekend."

Congratulations to these remarkable young athletes whose accomplishments not only demonstrate talent on the ice but also highlight their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.
