Vanier’s Mai Anh Nguyen named Coordinator, Student Services (Athletics and Sports Complex)

August 19, 2025

Vanier College is pleased to announce that Mai Anh Nguyen has been named Coordinator, Student Services (Athletics and Sports Complex). Reporting to the Director of Student Services, the Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and management of professional services, ensures that all activities and operations are aligned with the College mission and strategic plan, and, in particular, coordinates the development, implementation and operations of all Athletics and Recreational programs for students.

The Coordinator manages staff, evaluates instructors and coaches for the Athletics program, and oversees all operations of the Sports Complex, including rentals, therapy clinic and Aquatics community program. In addition, acting as Vanier’s liaison for outside organizations, the coordinator participates in meetings of the Réseau du Sport Étudiant (RSEQ) and of the Canadian Collegiate Sports Association (CCAA), and serves as college representative on various College committees, such as Health and Safety, and Super Camp Board of Directors.

Since arriving at Vanier in 2015, Mai Anh Nguyen has acquired a profound understanding of student life and services, and athletics. Most recently, she served as Interim Student Life Coordinator responsible for developing and supervising operations of all Athletic and Recreational programs for students. Her outstanding performance in that role earned her recognition as the 2025 CCAA Athletic Director of the Year for her exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication to student-athlete success—both on the field and in the classroom. Among her accomplishments was the remarkable success of Vanier College’s hosting of the 50th CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship, the College’s first national event since 1987.

Previously, Mai Anh served as Student Life Advisor – Athletics for ten years. During that time, she was a member of the Athletics staff and worked with all Vanier varsity teams, promoted the Vanier Cheetahs and student success, and oversaw Vanier’s affiliation with various RSEQ and CCAA committees. Mai Anh has also worked in management, marketing and retail, and coached several medal-winning basketball teams.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Marketing from Concordia University.

“I am delighted to welcome Mai Anh to our Student Services management team. Her leadership and expertise will be invaluable in guiding our Sports Complex and Athletics programs. I am confident in her ability to foster an environment that is varied, engaging, and safe—where students can access services, experiences, and programs that inspire personal growth and support their success,” said Christina Cichon, Director of Student Services.

Congratulations to Mai Anh Nguyen and best of luck in her new position that she started on July 13th.
