Orange shirt Day is a grassroot Indigenous day that grew out of Phyllis Webstad’s story, and this day is an opportunity to wear orange and commit to the enduring truth that Every Child Matters, and opens the door to global conversation on all aspects of Residential Schools. The orange shirt serves as a symbol of the loss of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by children in the residential school system.
As well, Indigenous Vanier students will share what the day means to them, and Director General Benoit Morin will address Vanier’s commitments through its Strategic plan to Indigenous Education, and to working together with Indigenous communities.
Please join us for this solemn occasion at Vanier College.
