Students enrolled in an English-language CEGEP (and who do not possess a certificate of eligibility for instruction in English) must pass the épreuve uniforme de français (EUF) in order to graduate. Three courses are designed to prepare you for the EUF:
- UF0 : Œuvres narratives et écriture
- UF1 : Poésie, théâtre et écriture
- UF2 : Comparaison d’œuvres littéraires
Certificate holders are exempt from this test. They must enroll in two compulsory French courses (Block A and Block B) to obtain their diploma.
French “A”
French “A” courses are designed to improve general skills in French: oral comprehension, oral expression, reading comprehension, and written expression with an emphasis on the last two.
French “B”
French “B” courses maintain the same general objectives while being more specific to the student's program of study. Your course list will show which French courses must be taken in which semester. Note that not all “B” courses are offered every semester. Missing a course that has been scheduled at a specific semester might mean having to wait for an extra semester to be able to take this course. If in doubt, consult an academic advisor.
