Summer School and Prep School courses

Vanier's Summer school and Prep school offer individual college and high school level courses intended for those looking to complete their diploma requirements. They run from early June through July. Classes are offered in traditional, in-person format. In the spring, this page is updated with instructions on how to register for courses, requirements, dates and other essential information.


Dates

  • Summer School courses: Tuesday, June 9 - Thursday, July 30, 2026
  • Prep School (High School) courses: Thursday, June 25 - Friday, July 31, 2026

Registration takes place on Omnivox by appointment. Check Omnivox → Course Registration for your appointment time.

  • Registration appointments open Thursday, June 4 and Friday, June 5, 2026
  • Registration ends Sunday, June 7 at 11:59 p.m.

Course registration limits

All students can enroll in a maximum of one high school Math or Science course. The number of other courses you can take depends on your graduation status:

Limits for summer graduating students

  • May take up to 3 courses, including:
    • DCS courses needed to graduate
    • University prerequisites
    • One high school Math or Science course
  • Science students: Maximum 2 Math or Science program courses

Limits for non-graduating students

  • May take up to 2 courses, including:
    • DCS courses
    • University prerequisites

Before you register

Keep in mind that:

  • Completing a survey or receiving an appointment does not guarantee a seat.
  • Fees must be paid in full within 24 hours of registration via Omnivox (Visa or MasterCard only). We do not accept cash or personal cheques.
  • If fees are not paid, your spot may be given to another student.
  • The College reserves the right to revise or cancel courses without prior notice.

How to register: Returning Vanier students

If you completed credit courses in the last 12 months, you are considered a returning student and do not need to reapply.

If you took Continuing Education courses in Winter 2026:

  • You will automatically receive an Omnivox registration appointment for June 4 or 5.
  • Appointments appear in Omnivox in early June.
  • If you don't see your appointment, email conted@vaniercollege.qc.ca with your name and student ID.

If you took courses in Summer or Fall 2025 (but not Winter 2026):

If neither of these cases applies to you, follow the instructions below based on your profile (A, B or C).

A) Vanier Summer 2026 potential graduates

You are a potential Summer 2026 graduate if:

  • You are missing no more than 3 courses to graduate.
  • Science students: you are missing no more than 2 science courses.
  • You appear on the Summer 2026 Potential Graduates List in Omnivox → Academic Advising.

Not on the list but believe you qualify? Email advising@vaniercollege.qc.ca by May 24.

Complete the survey in Omnivox → Surveys and Votes between April 29 and May 10.

In the survey, indicate if you want to take a:

  • University prerequisite not part of your program
  • High school Math/Science course
  • Course retake
Registration appointments
  • Automatically assigned for June 4 in Omnivox (visible in early June)
  • If retaking a course, you'll be registered only if space permits.
  • A fee of $5 per course hour is applied to retakes

B) Vanier Winter 2026 potential graduates (needing Summer/Prep School)

You qualify if:

  • You are on the Winter 2026 potential graduates list
  • You requested or received an incomplete for, or failed, 1–3 courses in Winter 2026
  • You wish to take a university prerequisite, high school Math/Science, or retake a course

Complete the Omnivox survey (Omnivox → Surveys and Votes) between April 29 and May 10. Answer YES to question 1 to receive a registration appointment.

Registration appointments
  • Assigned for June 4 (visible in early June)
  • If retaking a course, you'll be registered only if space permits.
  • A fee of $5 per hour is applied to retakes

C) Non-graduating Vanier students

Complete the Omnivox survey (Omnivox → Surveys and Votes) between April 29 and May 10. Answer YES to question 1 to receive a registration appointment for June 5.

  • If you're a Fall 2026 potential graduate and need a Summer prerequisite for Fall, mention this in the survey.
  • In the survey, indicate if you want to:
    • Take a university prerequisite
    • Take a high school Math/Science course
    • Retake a course you've already passed

Course space is limited. Graduating students have priority.

Registration appointments
  • June 5 via Omnivox
  • If retaking a course, you'll be registered only if space permits.
  • A fee of $5 per course hour is applied to retakes

How to apply: Students from other colleges

The following process applies regardless of your graduation status. Be sure to follow Summer 2026 Important Dates.

  • Ask your Academic Advisor to submit a virtual commandite by May 29 (if you are graduating, your advisor must indicate this in the commandite).
  • Course requests will be processed June 8 (space permitting).
  • If registered, you'll get an email after 4:00 p.m. on June 8.
  • Pay via Omnivox by midnight or you will lose your spot.
  • If you need to withdraw, follow the Omnivox withdrawal procedure.
