New regulation from the Quebec Ministry of Immigration and a new Immigration Consulting Cegep Program

Vanier College and Cégep de Saint-Laurent will each be offering a new Attestation d’études collégiales (A.E.C) program in Immigration Consulting starting April 2011.

The introduction of this program is timely given the new regulation of the Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities (M.I.C.C.), which came into effect on November 4, 2010.

Getting official recognition This requires all those wishing to continue to practice as immigration consultants under the Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities, to obtain official recognition and to register with the Quebec Register of Immigration Consultants (Registre québécois des consultants en immigration). To do so, immigration consultants must present proof of membership in the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (C.S.I.C).

375 -hour AEC Within this context, Vanier College and Cégep de Saint-Laurent jointly developed a 375-hour AEC program in line with the pedagogical standards and objectives stated by the C.S.I.C. Both institutions have recently received official accreditation from C.S.I.C.

Upon completion of the Immigration Consulting Program, students will be fully prepared to write the Professional Standards Test administered by C.S.I.C. Once successful, applicants will receive official designation as a Canadian Consultant in Immigration (C.C.A.I).

Vanier College and Cégep de Saint-Laurent are the sole accredited institutions to offer this program east of Ontario, and Vanier College is the only one to offer instruction in the English-language in the same region.
