John Atkins Receives Vanier’s 2014-2015 ABCD Award

Montreal June 16th 2015- Vanier’s Director General Mr. Normand W. Bernier recently presented Vanier Nurse John Atkins with the college’s annual ABCD Award (Above and Beyond The Call Of Duty). The award was presented to John at the college’s staff picnic event.

ABCD was created to honour a Vanier employee whose actions and activities consistently and regularly go well beyond what is expected or required within the usual position functions and responsibilities of the employee.

“A nurse for over twenty five years, John performs his job on a day-to-day basis for our community and is known for his personal commitment to care. You are never just a number with John Atkins. No matter how full the Health Resources’ waiting room is John devotes his attention and time to seeing every student, staff and faculty member, for any concern, no matter how big or small,” said Mr. Bernier.

“In addition to providing regular healthcare services and responding to urgent calls for help, John gets involved with other departments and projects. As a pillar of our community whose support we have come to rely upon, John goes above and beyond the call of duty every day. In recognition of this and as a small token of our gratitude, I am proud to announce that John is the recipient of the 2014-2015 ABCD Award,” said Mr. Bernier.
