It is with much sadness that we, the past and present members of the French and Modern Languages Programs, announce the passing of Simone Paradis on April 27, 2020 at the palliative care unit of the Maison Saint-Raphaël. A dear friend, colleague and mentor, Simone was among the founders and organizers in 1969 of Vanier College and the French Department. She retired in 1992. Simone embraced teaching wholeheartedly and worked indefatigably to build a solid department at the College. She nurtured and guided younger teachers, admirably counselled our students and genuinely supported the mission of the CEGEPs. Her office was always open, she knew how to listen and became a good friend to many of our colleagues. We will sorely miss Simone.
