It is with regret that Vanier College learned of the passing of Vanier retiree, Laurence Ewart Husbands, on December 15, 2022, at age 86.

As a young man, Laurence Husbands left Trinidad and Tobago, the country of his birth, to pursue his education in Canada. After completing his Bachelor of Science at the University of British Columbia, he attended the University of Manitoba, during his graduate studies, then obtained a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Waterloo.

He subsequently enjoyed a long career teaching chemistry at Vanier College from 1973 until he retired in 2004.

His children remember his razor-sharp mind, his keen sense of humour and his ability to captivate nearly anyone with his charm.
