JOY CHRISTINE LOVE Joy Christine Love, Nurse, Educator, Gardener, Quilter, and Grandparent Extraordinaire. On Thursday, December 22, 2022, Joy Christine Love, our beloved mother and grandmother, died with grace, peace and her family by her side after a short and courageous battle with ovarian cancer, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Palliative Care Unit, Toronto, ON. She was 78. Joy, who most recently lived in London, ON is survived by her children, Derek (Carla), Susan (Bosko) and Scott (Deb); her beloved grandchildren, Melanie, Emma, Andrew, Lia, Sofi and Mila; and her much loved dog, Ruby. Born in Windsor in 1944, Joy was the loving daughter of the Late John Jay Love (1996) and the Late Flora Love (2006), and is also predeceased by her brothers, the Late Peter (1964) and the Late Jay (2005). After graduating from Honourable W.C. Kennedy Collegiate, Windsor (class of 1963), Joy moved to Montreal, where she earned her RN at The Royal Victoria Hospital School of Nursing (class of 1966). Joy continued her education in Montreal, earning a BA in Community Nursing at Concordia University, and a Master of Education at McGill University. In her early career, Joy worked in psychiatric nursing for the Allan Memorial Institute, Montreal. In addition to caring for others as a nurse, Joy was an educator of nursing for more than twenty years at Vanier College, Montreal, training and passing on her wisdom and experience to a legacy of nurses. Joy also trained and worked as a psychotherapist, in additional to leading group workshops on grief. An avid gardener, talented tole painter, brilliant quilter, and dedicated volunteer, Joy’s passion for the many hobbies and causes she devoted her time to over the years was admirable. She was so fond of her time spent gardening at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence in Kirkland, QC, helping at the greenhouse in London, ON, growing veggies at the community garden in London, ON, creating beautiful quits with the women in the quilting guild in London, ON, and the many other groups and causes she participated in. A celebration of Joy’s life will be held on Sunday, January 22nd from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at The Gatsby Restaurant, Windsor Arms Hotel 18 St. Thomas Street, Toronto, ON.
