Health and safety responsibilities

  • Inspects health and safety issues on campus
  • Makes recommendations to improve health and safety on campus, and involving college activities
  • Provides safety guidelines to the community
  • Keep records of hazardous material on campus
  • Responds to any incident involving hazardous material (Spills, first aid, etc.)

Incident reporting

To report an incident at Vanier College, visit the ecompliance site.
Sign in using your Vanier College email address and click "Log In with SSO."

When to submit

Submit an incident report if you witness or experience:

  • Accidents, injuries, or near-misses (also contact security at 514.744.7575)
  • Unsafe conditions (e.g., wet floors, blocked exits)
  • Property damage or vandalism
  • Suspicious activity (also contact security at 514.744.7575)
  • Sick or injured animals on campus

If unsure, err on the side of caution—every report helps keep our campus safe.

Types of incidents

Use eCompliance to report:

  • Workplace Injuries & Incidents (e.g., injuries, hazards, or unsafe conditions)
  • Occupational Illness (e.g., exposure to harmful substances)
  • Security Concerns (e.g., suspicious individuals, vandalism)
  • Environmental Hazards (e.g., damaged equipment, tripping hazards)

Reports are sent to the Health & Safety Manager and Security for follow-up. Attaching photos is encouraged when possible.

Joint Health and Safety Committee

Mandate

The Joint Health and Safety Committee has a mandate to advance Health and Safety at the College. The Committee mandate includes advising, providing support to the College in matters of Health and Safety and promoting Health and Safety in the community.

Forms, meeting minutes, protocols and procedures are available to Vanier employees on the Health and Safety internal portal.
