Debbie Ruiz completed a highly successful
year with the Vanier Cheetahs Women's Basketball team by receiving
the honour of being named to the All Canadian squad, designating
her as one of the top five basketball student athletes in the
country. As team captain, she lead the Cheetahs to a bronze medal
in this year's Provincial Championships, held March 4-5, 2000.
Apart from winning a position on the First Team All Star squad,
Debbie also won the Al Silverman Memorial Award at the event.
This award is given to the "Player of the Year" in
the Quebec
Basketball League.
Other highlights of this year's season included the Cheetahs
winning the Seneca College Tournament, where Debbie was named

Debbie is receiving lots of attention from NCAA and CIAU schools.
She will probably got to play in the U.S on a scholarship next
