For Vanier Architectural Technology student, Bijova Milli Nath Chowdhury, it’s a great way to wrap up three years of hard work and studies and take the next step in building her career. Already a multi-scholarship winner, Bijova Milli Nath Chowdhury, can add another award to the list of her accolades: a 2010 Meritas bursary from the Quebec Order of Professional Technologists.
Bijova Milli Nath Chowdhury is an outstanding student whose other scholarships include regional and national 2009 Hats Off to You Awards, and a 2010 RFCM Scholarship. Passionate about architecture and sustainability, Milli has been involved in several Architectural Technology projects at Vanier. She was a project manager during recent construction of a Green Roof prototype on the Vanier campus by Architectural Technology students, and in 2009 she participated in a Habitat for Humanity trip to Taos, New Mexico. Throughout all these activities, she has maintained high academic standards.
“Her ability to manage her time well and work hard to achieve the tasks she has set for herself are very impressive,” states her teacher, Zoya Duba, Coordinator of the Architectural Technology Program. “As well, her interest and enthusiasm for the field of architecture and construction, and especially sustainability and humanitarian issues is readily apparent. Milli has invested a lot of effort to start a Vanier chapter of Habitat for Humanity and has organized students to carry on her work and to ensure continuity now that she will be soon graduating.”
The OTPQ bursary is intended to encourage students to pursue their higher education and to underscore the quality of their work and academic performance. Every year, the professional order awards more than $15000 in bursaries to its affiliated students. The aim is to promote technological careers and support quality in the education and training students receive in Cegeps. It’s also a way of highlighting the importance of professional technologists in Québec society.
