Vanier's Key Society is composed of a talented group of students chosen for their high academic standing, strong communication skills and demonstrated leadership abilities. Throughout the year, they are given many opportunities to contribute to the life of the college. In the fall and winter semesters, they are often called upon to act as ambassadors at college functions such as Open House and orientation sessions for new students. In the winter semester, working on their own or in small groups, they will undertake a college-wide project, such as an awareness campaign or fundraising event. Not only will the project benefit the student body, but it will also provide Key members with the opportunity to explore issues that concern them in meaningful and creative ways. The success of their projects will rest on the degree of decision making, planning, and commitment the students bring to their projects.

Rafael Figueroa
My name is Rafael and I am currently in my third semester as a student in the Liberal Arts program. I have always had a great interest in history and literature and the Liberal Arts allows me to develop my knowledge and understanding of these subjects all the while letting me pursue a pre-university college degree. In the future, I would like to study law at the university level. Ideally, I would continue these studies at McGill University but I am also considering studying outside of Quebec. Among my other interests, I have a great passion for sports and particularly soccer which I played for several years. I speak English, French and Spanish and hope to learn many others in the course of my studies. It is a great honour to have been chosen to be a member of the Vanier Key Society and I look forward to representing the college at various events and fundraisers. Our time as students at Vanier is incredibly short and we should all make the most of it.

Ali Khalifa
Hi, my name is Ali and I'm in the Health Science program. I am very glad I was able to join the Vanier Key Society as it would help me feel more involved in Vanier. I like Vanier and think that the environment is very friendly and well maintained by the staff and the students. Science is more than knowledge to me; it's my passion as it helps visualize my entire environment in new ways. I think that being part of the VKS will help me develop my communication and leadership skills. I look forward to any challenges that will be part of being an ambassador, and I also look forward to working with other VKS members to show that Vanier is more than an educational institution; it feels like a home.

Patricia Michelena
Hola! My name is Patricia and I am currently studying Communications at Vanier. I am originally from Caracas, Venezuela. I came to Montreal a year ago to study and as soon as I arrived I fell in love! I find the city incredible. There is always something different to do and someone new to meet. I am also a very active person. During my free time I like to play volleyball, read, visit new places, watch movies, meet people, learn languages, and go out. This is my last year at Vanier and I will try to make the best out of it! I think after Vanier I will continue my studies in journalism at Concordia University. I know being part of the Vanier Key Society is going to help me enjoy my last year, as well as develop important skills for my future. I am looking forward to the coming year!

Marie-Chantale Farhat
My name is Marie-Chantale, and I am currently in my third semester at Vanier College in the Health Science program. I love being in Health Science because it allows me to set many goals and motivates me to work very hard to achieve those goals. Being in Health Science is also very challenging, but I often try to find time to do what I like. I really enjoy volunteering at the hospital because I am with people who need me. I am a person who cares a lot about others, and it makes me feel good to make a positive contribution to society. I also tutor at the Math & Science Centre, and I enjoy helping people understand abstract knowledge. After I graduate, I want to pursue a career in dentistry or medicine by continuing my studies at McGill University or at the Université de Montréal. I am very honoured and excited to be part of the Vanier Key Society as it will allow me to be more involved in my College and to make it a better place for present and future students.

Sara Andrade
Hello, my name is Sara and this is my second year at Vanier in the Liberal Arts program. I am glad to be a part of the Key Society and see it as another opportunity to get involved on campus. Although the future can be scary, it holds a promise of happiness for all of us. For my part, I wish to pursue a career in law and ardently desire to travel, to explore, and to understand. Throughout my eighteen years of existence, I have fallen in love three times: with music, with tennis and with cinema. I am also obsessed with food and have been labelled numerous times as an eternal optimist. Even though I cherish my paperback world, I am eager to act and simply hope to never stop learning.

Ka Wai Ho
Hello! My name is Ka Wai, and I am currently studying in Honours Commerce. I am very honoured to be part of the Vanier Key Society. I plan on pursuing my education at the University of Toronto after having graduated from Vanier College, and being a step closer in achieving my childhood dream of becoming an accountant. I am fluent in English, French and Cantonese. During my free time, I enjoy building and painting plastic models - usually of robots. I also like to draw, to play video games and to watch anime. I am a person who takes my studies seriously but, when I have free time, I like to volunteer and get involved in the community. I also enjoy travelling. It is interesting to learn about the various cultures around the world. I look forward to experiencing the opportunities the Vanier Key Society has to offer!

Tia Wang
Hi, my name is Tia (short for Tianyu); I am currently studying in the Pure and Applied Science program here at Vanier College. I am so glad to become a member of Vanier Key society this academic year. I have a passion for science and I like to find out how things function. In the future, I would like to pursue my studies in a medical field or maybe set up my own business. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, reading, listening to music and going out with friends. The experience of working in a daycare and volunteering in a Jewish Seniors Centre gives me more understanding of life and love; it also makes me want to help others. Just as "The Oath of Hippocrates" suggests, I will use my ability and judgment in order to benefit others as much as possible.

Erika Kinnear
Hi, my name is Erika and I'm in my second year studying Commerce at Vanier. So far, my experience here has been great! I've had remarkable teachers and met so many amazing people. When I graduate from Vanier College in June, I hope to pursue my studies at Concordia's John Molson School of Business. Some of my pastimes include swimming, cheerleading, skiing, photography and scrapbooking! I also keep busy working as a lifeguard at the Vanier pool as well as another indoor pool in my neighborhood. What I like about Vanier is that its friendly atmosphere creates a welcoming environment for its students. I believe it's important to get involved in the school community in as many ways possible as it makes your CEGEP years an even better experience. I've been on the school's varsity cheerleading team since my first semester and I'm looking forward to also being a part of the Vanier Key Society for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Kassandra Spooner Lockyer
Hello, my name is Kassandra and I am currently in my 2nd semester of Liberal Arts. My plans for the future are still open to suggestions, but for the time being they include Gender Studies in either Anthropology or History. I plan on staying in school for as long as possible even if that means taking up a teaching position as well. Any spare time out of school, homework and my job is spent reading (fantasy, science fiction or historical fiction) and making sure I don't lose my friends in between my studies. I came to Vanier originally for the Health Science program, however when I realized that science was not the way my mind worked, I transferred into Liberal Arts. There I found what I needed; a way of thinking that wasn't confined by equations. My classes encouraged independent thought and lively discussions, which allowed me to grow as a student. I hope to give back a little of what Vanier has given me by being an avid participant in the Vanier Key Society.

Naznin Khanmohamed
Hi my name is Naznin, and I'm currently in my second year of Health Science at Vanier College. After obtaining my DEC, I would like to get my bachelors in sciences at McGill University, and later on I would like to reach McGill Medical School. Besides my school work, my favorite activities are listening to music, dancing, and a lot of volunteering. I'm currently volunteering at the Montreal General Hospital in the Emergency Room, and for the Elderly Care Program. I joined the Vanier Key Society because I would like to be involved in this school. By being ambassadors for the College, it is a great way to be involved, meet new people, make new friends, and make memorable memories to cherish in the future!

Pascal Chigangu Amani
I am Pascal – currently enrolled in the Science and Commerce Double DEC program. From the very first time I stepped through the door of Vanier, I was convinced that I have finally found a fertile ground for self-growth. Indeed, my first year has been that of fulfillment which has stirred up my passion for serving people through altruistic activities. My interests are broad, yet mentoring children is part of my life. As of now, I am reading about individuals who have altered the course of history – Jesus being my favorite historical figure, in order to have a deeper understanding of our world. The idea of giving with love is of great interest to me; this being said, I am looking forward to offering the best of me to Vanier as a key society member. Surely, this new chapter we have started will forever be a never-ending experience!

Hey! I'm William and I am a proud Vanier student who is currently enrolled in the Vanier commerce program. I aspire to attend either the McGill School of Business or Concordia's John Molson School of Business, but I do not yet know what I want to major in. My hobbies include basketball, hanging out with close friends, and playing guitar/piano. I joined the Vanier Key Society because not only was I interested in serving Vanier College, but I was interested in helping my community in order to become the best person I can be. I believe that the Vanier Key Society will help me develop my communication and leadership skills so that they can help me in whatever dreams I desire to pursue. Before joining the Vanier Key Society, I was a volunteer at the Royal Victoria Hospital. My favorite television shows are Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Dexter.

Sébastien Bah
Hey, my name is Sébastien. I am in my second year here at Vanier in the Health Science program. I love science because it allows me to comprehend a lot of things that happen around me. I also enjoy playing sports such as tennis, basketball, racquetball, badminton and volleyball. Being at Vanier has really been a great experience so far; the multiculturalism is an added bonus. I dream on going to McGill University in medicine. Even though it is just a dream, my objective is to turn that dream into something tangible and real; and so I hope that the experiences I get from the Vanier Key Society will further equip me in my journey to university, but also in what lies beyond that. Also, I see joining this group as a way I might be able to give back to the college that has already given me a lot.

My name is David. I am a second year Honours Health Science student here at Vanier. All my life I have been searching for balance. Hi guys! I go by the name of Lily and I am in my third semester at Vanier College. As a current student in the Modern Languages Program and the Women's Studies Major, my two concentration courses are Spanish and German, simply because I have such a never-ending passion for new languages and cultures. I am also involved in the peer tutoring program and many student clubs within the college. In the future, I want to pursue a career in international law and diplomacy, not only because I have strong interest in this professional field, but also because I want to improve human relationships on an international scale. Stacy Chung
Hello, my name is Stacy and this is my third semester in the Business Administration program here at Vanier College. I am very excited about the Key Society and I hope to contribute as much as I can to it. I like helping others and as a result I am a peer-tutor this semester. I am still not sure what I want to do in the future and that's why I chose a three-year program, which gives me one more year to decide what I want to do. I do not really have a precise interest, but one thing I enjoy doing is cooking and baking. Like someone said: "Cooking is an art and bakery is a science." I really think this is true as to succeed in bakery, I have to measure my proportions carefully in order to make a perfect cake. Apart from that, I like being with my friends. As a Key member, I want to do my best to represent the College.

Sondos Zayed
My name is Sondos and I am currently a full-time second year Health Science student at Vanier. Upon discovering science way back in the fourth grade, it immediately became a great passion of mine, and still is today. To observe and to study the world through the lenses of a scientist is something that I wish to do as a life-long career. With this passion for science comes the desire to pass on my knowledge to others through my peer tutoring activities at the Vanier College Math and Science Centre. I am also an English peer tutor and a tutor at the CLÉO. With only two more semesters left before I will have to bid Vanier goodbye for university, I am truly anticipating being a member of the Vanier Key Society. It is an experience that I believe will enable me to actively contribute to my community.
