Vanier College Learning Centre
Skills Development Workshop -- January 22, 2004

The Learning Centre developed a workshop intended to increase the skills development of our volunteers and to enhance their learning. The TLC Assistants worked on the creation of a marketing campaign for a product, complete with visual aids and a public speaking presentation. The English Peer Tutors and Conversation Partners covered a variety of topics, from conversation starters and debating topics to verb Bingo and using song lyrics to enhance listening skills. It also encouraged the young people to be more culturally ensitive and keep an open mind and refrain judging others, learned through the game the Power Shuffle.

Afterwards, a light lunch was offered to all participants. A great time was had by all, and everyone walked away having learned something new about themselves.
