Japan Internships give you a unique opportunity to learn about the Hospitality & Tourism industry in Japan. Japan is renowned throughout the world for its impeccable dedication to customer service – Japan is the land where 'Okyakusama wa kamisama' (the customer is God). Working as an intern will give you firsthand insight of Japanese workplace practices, etiquette, honorific language use and much, much more.
PROGRAMS: Standard Program & Intensive Program
The Standard Internship program contains only a work-experience component. Open to Intermediate – Advanced level Japanese speakers. The Intensive Internship program contains a work-experience component and an intensive language course component. Open to Beginner level Japanese speakers. Our Intensive Japanese Language Course gives participants a solid foundation of Japanese upon which to practice and build on during their Internship.
PROGRAM Duration: 8-18 weeks
Japan Internships programs run from 8-18 weeks, and can be tailored to suit participants' availability. Programs start on the 1st of every month anytime between March and December (no January or February starts).
PROGRAM Supervision: Seminars, Journal submission & Certification
For the duration of your Japan Internship, you will be regularly supervised to discuss your progress and to ensure you are getting the most out of your work placement. You will also be required to attend an induction seminar, keep a journal in Japanese, and write a reflective essay about what you learn from the experience. Upon completion of your Internship, you will receive a Certificate to acknowledge your participation.
POSITIONS & Japanese Language
There are various positions available in the Hotels – Restaurant, Bellhop, Front desk, Gift shop, Information and many more. Participants will be exposed to Japanese everyday and will be expected to continually refine their understanding and usage of the language, including Japanese 'Keigo' (Honorifics).
REMUNERATION
All Internships are paid at approx. 625-650yen per hour (according to minimum wage law in Japan). All Interns are covered by Japanese "Rousai" Work Insurance while on the job.
COSTS for Participants: Travel and Living Expenses
Interns are responsible for their own travel expense (including travel insurance) to Japan - expect to pay between USD$1,500 - $2,000. Most Hotels provide Dormitory Accommodation and Meals for interns at reduced rates.
