To qualify student volunteers must complete 60+ hours in ONE of the following seven categories:
Social & Community Involvement
Participation in activities aimed at enhancing the quality of life in our local and global communities.
Examples: Being a Peer Tutor in the Learning Centre, participation in student clubs, student councils or school newspapers, involvement in Vanier TV, doing/facilitating leadership workshops, participation in non-profit agencies within our community.
Participation in the area of Science and Technology through research and/or experimentation that enriches the scientific knowledge of the College and/or community.
Examples: Bell Science Fair, Science on Tourne, Robotics Club, research projects with Vanier teachers.
Participation in co-curricular activities enriching a study program or professional enhancement of their fellow students.
Examples: Volunteering at an academic resource centre, public speaking contests, debating tournaments and tutoring.
Initiation of entrepreneurial projects at the college or in the community.
Examples: A student run (non profit) tax clinic, a new campus sustainability initiative that you set up.
Arts & Culture
Participation in a college or community performance or visual/multimedia presentations.
Examples: Vanier’s Got Talent Show, a local fashion or theatre show, Vanier College choir, etc.
Participation in intercollegiate or intramural sports at Vanier. This includes involvement as a player, coach or trainer, at the local, provincial or national level.
Examples: Being in the Sport Études program, member of athletic teams, etc.
Participation in activities that defend the rights and interests of everyone within our community.
Examples: Active member of a federal, provincial political party; student political club; Vanier Social Justice Committee, etc.
