Vanier College is proud to congratulate two remarkable Sport-Études student athletes who were recently awarded 2015 National Bank Bursaries in association with the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence.
Maude Sigouin who is in the Social Science Sport and Leisure Major Program at Vanier and plays softball on the Quebec Rebelles provincial midget team won a $4,000 Elite bursary. Francis Carter, a Vanier Science student whose sport is Olympic Wrestling won a $2,000 bursary in the Relève category.
This is the second time Maude Sigouin wins a bursary from the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence, having been a recipient as well in 2014. Maude hopes to combine her passion for sports with a concern for young people by pursuing her studies and having a career in kinesiology or physiotherapy.
Francis Carter who recently competed in the Canadian National Championships and has done very well in various wrestling competitions in the past few years, plans to pursue his interest in science and eventually study physics in university.
Every year, the National Bank, in partnership with the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence, awards bursaries to young athletes in several categories aimed at recognizing outstanding academic achievement, a healthy balance between study and sport, perseverance and leadership. This year, the National Bank Bursary Program in partnership with the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence distributed $120,000 worth of financial support for young athletes.
