Marilyn Bicher Marilyn was born in Montreal and was brought up by a single parent when it was not as common as it is now. At an early age, Marilyn realized that the world was not exactly as her school readers indicated mom at home, dad in the labour force, a sister, a brother, a cat, a dog and a house with a white picket fence. She understood difference at an early age. Most likely it was this difference that attracted her to sociology because it gave her the tools to frame and understand her social experience. |

Marilyn studied Education at McGill University and then got an Honours BA and a MA in Sociology from Concordia University. Further studies led to her MSW from McGill University. Her research interests are cultural diversity, sexual violence, women, in general and women's health, in particular. Marilyn has been teaching for many years and thoroughly enjoys the students at Vanier College. Office
