WELCOME TO SOCIOLOGY

Marc Bélanger

Marc Bélanger was born in Montreal to English and French parents in the summer of Expo and grew up in Ottawa, Zambia, and Sri Lanka. After finishing high school in Ottawa, he returned to Montreal to study Sociology at McGill University, where he completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. His Master's thesis looked at the impact of user fees in a health care system and was based on field research collected in three villages in Benin, West Africa.

With these credentials, he promptly embarked on a successful career in the Food Service industry (?) where he worked for the next ten years. Heeding a little voice inside (and his wife's ardent suggestion), he sought a teaching position at Vanier College, a move that has since brought him much pleasure and satisfaction. He has previously taught at the American International School in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Marc is married and the proud father of two children.
