300.34 Sport and Leisure Studies
Students who complete a Major in Sports and Leisure Studies will have developed knowledge and critical thinking about the role of sports and leisure activities in society and in Social Science. This Major prepares students for university studies in any Social Science discipline but is especially designed for students interested in pursuing university studies in such fields as Youth Service, Employee Recreation, Outdoor Education & Recreation, Commercial Recreation or Therapeutic Recreation in settings such as municipal, provincial and federal parks, youth service agencies, rehabilitation centers or leisure service agencies. This Major may also appeal to students who wish to combine their academic education with their passion for sport. A student who graduates with a Major in Sports & Leisure Studies will have a better understanding and appreciation for the psychological, sociological, geographical and anthropological aspects of sport and leisure activities in human society.
