The Engineering Math and Physics Major is a special cluster of Pure and Applied science courses involving an integrated use of computers in the learning of science. If you are accepted into the Major, you will be able to make increasing use of computer applications in all your science courses. If you successfully complete the Major, you will be awarded a special Major Certificate when you graduate from Vanier.

You will not have to take any extra courses, since the Major courses are integrated with the courses required for a DEC in Science. Your choice of Science options is restricted to courses consistent with your interests.

|

Why should I take the Engineering Math and Physics Major?

- The Engineering Math and Physics allows you to follow up your interests in computer applications pertinent to a future in science and engineering.
- Learning these applications will enhance your eligibility for interesting summer and part-time technical jobs.
- Developing computer and computer software skills will increase your chances for success in university studies.
- Coordination between your math and physics courses will enhance your learning of both subjects.
- You will take some of your classes with other students with similar interests and this will give your college experience an added dimension.
- The Major Certificate can be a valuable addition to your CV. Are there any special activities associated with this Major?
- You will be encouraged to take part in math and science-related extra curricular activities such as the Math Club, the Robotics Club, Science and Engineering Lectures, College Fairs and Competitions, External Math and Science Contests.
- You will be encouraged to attend special lectures given by invited speakers on topics of current interest.
- You will be invited to develop new kinds of activities appropriate for students with an interest in applied math and engineering
