Starting in September, a dedicated group of forty Vanier students stemming from a number of different academic programs began a six month journey to design and build a robot, construct a kiosk, program a website and produce a video. On February 20th – 22nd, Vanier finally competed. Vanier’s Robotics Team ranked 11th out of 31 competing teams from 28 different schools. In particular, our team won 1st place for best web tutorial, 5th place for best website, and 5th place for best kiosk. In addition, the team’s speedy heavy load lifting robot made it to the quarter-finals before unfortunately being knocked out due to an electrical malfunction.
The CRC competition name has been announced and the club will be in full swing preparing for Actimania 2015 after a few weeks of much needed rest. Finally, on behalf of the Club, I would like to extend a thank you to the following faculty and staff members for their guidance and support throughout the journey: John Lynch, Jason Duheme, Patrick Bouwman, Didier Brulé-Champagne, Stephen Cohen and Michel Paquette for his helpful on the spot advice during the competition. A special thanks also goes out to Mega Bloks and the ISA for their sponsorship. Until next year!
