As a teacher, do you ever wonder about your roles and responsibilities with regards to Health & Safety? This workshop aims at clarifying what is Health & Safety at the College and what roles and responsibilities are assigned to Teachers under laws, regulations and policies applicable at Vanier. At the end of this workshop, you will know the answers to common questions regarding Health & Safety, who to contact if you have questions or comments regarding H&S at Vanier, and how to get involved if you have concerns
Topics to be covered in this workshop include:
- What are teachers’ legal roles and responsibilities in terms of ensuring the Health and Safety of students?
- Criminal code
- Quebec Health & Safety laws and regulations
- Vanier’s Health & Safety Policy
- Examples using specific programs’ situations (pregnant student in technologies, etc.)
- What influence can you have on Health & Safety at Vanier?
- Questions/Answers period
About the Presenter
Joanie Robert is the Facilities Manager at Vanier College, and takes care of many dossiers including college-wide Health & Safety issues. Before stepping into this role, she was Health & Safety Officer at Vanier, and had previously worked in a similar capacity for Rio Tinto Alcan and the Government of Alberta. She holds a Bachelors’ and Master’s degree in Industrial Relations from Laval University in Quebec, as well as a Facilities Management Professional (FMP) designation. She is also a member in good standing of the Ordre des Conseillers en Ressources Humaines et Relations Industrielles Agréés as Certified Industrial Relations Counsellor since 2012. In her spare time, she likes bunnies, rock climbing and reading novels, not necessarily in that order.
