Program Description

A MASTERS-LEVEL PROGRAM
Participants may choose between three graduate level options:

1) A  fifteen-credit program leading to a Graduate Certificate in College Teaching (GCCT),
2) A thirty-credit program leading to a Graduate Diploma in College Teaching (GDCT), or
3) A forty-five-credit program leading to a Master of Education in College Teaching (M.Ed.).

The  MTP program is completed in stages, where the successful completion of the G.C is a prerequisite to proceed to the D.E. and then to the M.Ed. See below for the program structure. The D.E. may be completed in a minimum of three or three and a half years; the M.Ed. in a minimum of four or four and a half years.

Graduate Certificate level courses may also be taken as an independent student. Independent students may take up to a maximum of 9 credits in total in the program, after which they must register in a program.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Level 1 (Graduate Certificate): by successfully completing 15 credits (9 CORE and 6 ELECTIVE), students earn a Graduate Certificate in College Teaching (GCCT).

Level 2 (Graduate Diploma): by successfully completing the next 15 credits (13 CORE and 2 ELECTIVE), students will earn a Diploma of College Teaching (GDCT).

Level 3 (Master): by successfully completing the next 15 credits, called the Research Component, students will earn a Master of Education in College Teaching (M.Ed.).

AN INTEGRATED PROGRAM
The program is not a series of disconnected courses but rather an integrated program. The Graduate Certificate core and optional courses must be completed before continuing on to the Diploma courses; similarly, the Diploma courses must be completed before continuing on the the Master courses.

The goal of the research component in this graduate program is to prepare participants to design and implement research projects that increase their understanding of how classroom processes impact on student learning. It consists of four courses that are undertaken in sequence.
