The Literacy and Communication Across the Disciplines (LCAD) project was initiated to help support our students attainment of proficiency in the language of instruction.
In the first phase of the project, data was collected on student and teacher perceptions of the importance of literacy skills and how those skills are being taught across disciplines at Vanier. Research was also done to understand how this issue is being addressed by other colleges in the Cegep network.
In the current phase of the project, we are working on supporting teachers and departments to impliment strategies in their courses to help their students learn these important skills.
