Sometimes finding good educational resources for your courses can be a daunting task. Could you use a reliable source for good pictures or video to express concepts to a class, interactive materials that can help students
practice on their own, or just ideas for lesson activities? The CCDMD has a whole collection of resources for you. The CCDMD is a government funded organization that develops educational materials for use by the colleges in Quebec. Many of their resources are free and all have been designed specifically for Cegep students. To check out their resources go to http://www.ccdmd.qc.ca/eng .
Online resources
Most of the CCDMD resources are available online at the CCDMD webpage. They include website references, textbooks and software. The webpages are all free to access and include everything from language improvement to biology simulations; from music dictation to physics problem-based-learning activities. The textbooks are only available for purchase, but you can view the table of contents. Some of the software is available for free, others for purchase. They include software for creating simulations for astronomy or chemistry, graphic editing, personalized fitness training, language lessons, and more. They also have a number of useful resources specifically designed to help students prepare for their English Exit Exam.
World of Images
The World of Images is developed and maintained by the CCDMD in order to provide copyright-free media for use in educational material. You can search through a bank of pictures and videos. This is a great resource if you need to get free pictures for anything you are creating for educational use. The images and videos are shared under a creative common license, so they are free to use. If you do use images or videos from this site you must cite their sources by including the author’s name and the source of the media (World of Images, CCDMD). You are also welcome to share your pictures and videos with the CCDMD if you would like to do so under the Creative Commons licence. The World of Images is available at http://monde.ccdmd.qc.ca/world/ .
Project funding
The CCDMD also provides funding and resources for projects to develop educational materials. Materials can be either print or computer based. Project proposals can include requests for the translation of textbooks, development of new textbooks, software development, web-based applications, webpage development, and any other resource that could be useful as a teaching tool to the Quebec Cegep community. Project proposals must be submitted during the call for proposals period, from November to March. To submit a proposal, visit the Call for Proposals section of the CCDMD webpage.
