- Read relevant books and articles about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirited, inter-sex and queer (LGBTTTIQ) concerns and issues
- Participate in workshops and events on sexual orientation and gender diversity
- Participate in Open Door Network workshops and events
- View films that provide relevant information on LGBTTTIQ issues
- Encourage the visibility of LGBTTTIQ individuals by integrating issues of sexual orientation and gender diversity into your classroom, team, club, or activity
- Use inclusive language and provide examples that are relevant to sexual orientation and gender diversity

- Treat homophobia as seriously as you would any form of prejudice or discrimination
- Distribute Open Door Network pamphlets and other materials that promote awareness of the existence of LGBTTIQ individuals and the problems they face
- Let others know that jokes and negative remarks of a homophobic nature are unacceptable to you and within Vanier College
- Support campus equity initiatives, programs and groups working for change
- Organize and volunteer at Open Door Network events and activities
- Report vandalism, threats and acts of violence towards LGBTTTIQ individuals to Campus Security, the Open Door Network and to the Human Rights Office
- Challenge homophobic and gender role stereotypes
- Contact your municipal, provincial and federal political representative and ask how he/she supports gender diversity and sexual orientation initiatives

- Don’t automatically assume that all people are heterosexual
- Challenge others when they use derogatory language towards LGBTTTIQ persons
- Think about how prejudice and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender diversity affect your relationships with others
- Think about how prejudice and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender diversity affect people who are stigmatized and marginalized
- Share your learning with friends, family and colleagues
- Check out the available resources at the Library, Student Services, the Learning Centre, and the Human Rights Office.
