Course content includes: exposure to several drills and exercises (melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic) to develop reflexes necessary for sight-singing, eartraining; sight-singing and dictation of tonal melodies in the treble and bass clefs; basic rhythmic patterns in both simple and compound time (one and two-part); introduction of chromaticism; recognition of major and three forms of minor scales, and Lydian and Mixolydian modes; aural recognition and singing of intervals, triads and their inversions, dominant 7th, and non-harmonic tones; and elementary dictation and singing of progressions.
